Abortion rights provide often-discussed example of a spatial issue.

At one extreme are those who defend the legality of abortion under all circumstances; at the other extreme are those who want to ban the procedure under all circumstances.

  • Between those two poles lie a range of policy alternatives, from putting some restrictions on access, such as parental consent or consultation with a medical professional, to regulations on the time during pregnancy and procedures used, to allowing the practice only when the life of the mother is threatened.
